(i love moon taeil)
I usually don’t like comparing current events in American politics to fascism bc I feel like only 5% of people who do that actually know what fascism entails and the word has been thrown around in political discourse for decades to mean “this person or idea I don’t like” but…….. this is textbook fascism yall……
the context of this poll is the completely fabricated issue of “millions” of undocumented immigrants voting in federal elections, but even if it were about the possibility of world war iii breaking out before november 2020, y’all we had a presidential election in 1944 in the thick of world war ii. lincoln stood for reelection in 1864 during a fucking civil war. theres absolutely no scenario in which this could be acceptable based on precedent. there is absolutely no provision anywhere in the constitution that would even come close to giving the president the power to suspend elections during a national emergency. i understand that the half of republicans probably don’t know that, or maybe they do and they just don’t care, but still, half of the republicans polled here think that’s acceptable. that is truly terrifying.
